The Inspiration

Inspired by the flowing wrought iron found in Art Nouveau architecture across Mexico City, the El Garabato Gemstone Necklace transforms architectural ornament into a wearable sculpture.

Each necklace is composed of a unique selection of natural gemstones, individually chosen for their color, shape and character. No two compositions are ever alike, making every piece truly one of a kind.

To complement each gemstone, we carefully curate every detail—from the color of the silk thread to the finish of the Garabato centerpiece, available in either sterling silver or 18K gold vermeil depending on the composition. Every necklace is thoughtfully assembled as a complete work, where each element is selected to exist in harmony with the others.

Each gemstone is individually hand-knotted on natural silk using the traditional pearl-knotting technique. A knot between every stone allows the necklace to drape beautifully while protecting the gemstones and ensuring exceptional durability for generations to come.

Entirely handcrafted in our Mexico City atelier, every necklace is a collectible piece—a singular composition that exists only once.

Meet Our Process

Casting

A technique in jewelry making where molten metal is poured into a mold to create a specific shape or design.

Soldering

Two or more metal parts are joined together. It involves melting a filler metal, called solder, which has a lower melting point than the metals being joined. This creates a strong, durable bond once it cools and solidifies.

Retouch

A crucial step involving a series of meticulous buffing procedures to ensure each piece meets the desired standards of quality and aesthetics.

Polishing

This is where we achieve our signature mirror-like finish. The surface of the piece is smoothed and polished to remove any rough areas, imperfections, and/or scratches.
